What is GPS? The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellite system that provides reliable location and time information in all weather and at all times and anywhere on or near the Earth when and where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. It is maintained by the United States government and is freely accessible by anyone with a GPS receiver. GPS was created and realized by the U.S. Department of
Defense (DOD) and was originally run with 24 satellites. It was
established in 1973 to overcome the limitations of previous navigation
systems.... A vehicle tracking system combines the installation of an
electronic device in a vehicle, or fleet of vehicles, with
purpose-designed computer software at least at one operational base
to enable the owner or a third party to track the vehicle's location,
collecting data in the process from the field and deliver it to the base
of operation....
How Does It
Work?
What Do I Need to Track My Vehicle/Personnel? You need a WRU GPS Tracker
suited for your asset (truck, car, motorcycle, boat, personnel,
pet, etc). A local SIM card (with
prepaid or postpaid credits) is also required and is installed into the
GPS Tracker. To fully maximize Real Time Tracking capabilites you
need to sign up for WRU Subscription for your
tracking device/s.
Do I Need To Buy a Dedicated Computer and Keep It Running 24/7? No. Our WRU VehicleTracker Servers are operating 24/7 so that you need not to have your own dedicated computer just for your trackers.
Can We Have Our Own WRU VehicleTracker Server? Each of our existing GPS Tracking Server are capable
of tracking over 500 WRU GPS Trackers at any given time. They are in a
physically secure location with a standby generator with a less than a
minute start time to ensure continous operation.
How Else Can I See My WRU GPS Trackers? Any standard GSM Phone can receive updates and alerts from the WRU GPS Tracking Servers. More detailed information such as location maps, pending alerts, require a GSM phone that can access the Internet via GPRS, 3G, WIFi, etc. Alerts and alarms can also be received through E-Mail.
Is the WRU Vehicle Tracker Easy to Use? Yes. It is simple to understand and use, and does not require any programming skill. Just basic desktop knowledge will do.
What If We Already Have an Existing GPS Tracking System, Can We Still Use WRU? Yes. WRU can track up to 75 (and counting) GPS tracking devices from different manufacturers. Please contact us compatibility.
